Here at St Helen’s we want all children to get the most out of their education, attending school regularly is an important part of your child’s education. We are here to support you if your child has any issues attending school. Promoting and supporting good attendance at school is essential to learning and attainment.
Having a good education will help give your child the best possible start in life. Poor school attendance can damage educational achievement and the future progress of young people. The Government expect that children attend school 96% or more, over the course of the year. We have procedures in place for parents to follow, and that we follow, to ensure children attend school regularly.

If your child is unwell
If your child is genuinely unwell and you need to keep them off school, parent/carers MUST call school on the first day of absence by 8.55am. If lines are busy you can leave a message via the school answer machine or you can message school using ParentPay (this is maned all day every day). We then expect parent/carers to call us every day a child is absent from school.
